Relying on a descriptive approach, the present study provides a general sketch of the semantic systems of Bāseri dialect of Fārs; one of the southwestern Iranian dialects. The study emphasizes the words used to name wooden handicrafts in this dialect. In this article first, the socio-historical features of Bāseri tribe of Fārs are introduced and then the linguistic features of this dialect are presented. Finally, the data collected based on a field study of Bāseri tribe are introduced to the reader along with some pictures of the wooden handicrafts used by Bāseri tribe in cooking, husbandry, installing their tents, and weaving carpets.
