Carikalamature (caricature of words) is, lexically, a blended term made up of the English word "caricature" and the Persian word "kalamāt" (words). It technically, refers to the short sayings that convey humorous, serious or wise concepts and fall in the satire literary genre. This work aims at studying the role of ambiguation in creating the Persian carikalamatures on the basis of cognitive Conceptual Blending Theory. One of the techniques employed in creating Persian carikalamatures is ambiguation. Ambiguation is a type of obscurity exerted on the text by homonyms and ploysemous words or idiomatic expressions. In Integration network that underlies the structure of meaning, different discourse contexts are reflected in distinct generic spaces that motivate various cross-space mappings between an element of one input space and different elements of the other input space. This causes different meanings to be projected onto the blended space. Distinct generic spaces and various mappings and projections can be accounted for just by assuming two different integration networks for any caricalamature. Two distinct integration networks with identical first input space but different second input space, generic space and blended space and cross-space mappings justify the presence of the two simultaneous distinct meanings conveyed by one carikalamature.
