Languages around the world express the concept of plural in various ways, employing structural, syntactic, and lexical methods. This research investigates how the concept of plural is articulated in Tati, a language from the Northwestern branch of Iranian languages. The focus is on the Darvi dialect of Tati, which is prevalent in the village of Derav located in the Shahroud district of Khalkhal. In the Darvi Tati dialect, several methods are utilized to convey the notion of plural, including structural, structural-syntactic, verb agreement, pronoun agreement, reduplication, combination, and lexical approaches. The data was primarily gathered through fieldwork, complemented by the author’s own linguistic intuition as a native Tati speaker. Notably, this dialect has specific rules for expressing the plural form of family names and body parts that are not applicable in other contexts. The presence of ergative construction leads to nouns and plural pronouns having distinct direct and indirect forms. Moreover, both verb and pronoun agreement is obligatory in this dialect. It is important to mention that some plural expression methods are unique to humans and do not apply to objects or animals. In Tati, number is a crucial grammatical category, and neglecting proper usage can result in grammatical errors.
