Abstract

One of the most important and well-known differences among human languages, which has recently been employed as a classification criterion in language typology is, "word order" or "constituent order". Word order usually refers to the order of existing elements in a clause or phrase such as noun phrase and verb phrase. The purpose of this study was to determine the constituent order of clause and the language class of Sangesari language that is considered one of the Western Iranian languages. This study used Dryer (1992) & its word order parameters. The results indicated that, based on the world language genera, Sangesari has 15 parameters of the strong verb- final languages, and 14 parameters of the strong verb- medial languages, and that in comparison with Euro- Asian languages ,it has 17 parameters of the strong verb- final languages and 16 parameters of the strong verb- medial languages. Therefore, Sangesari belongs to the strong verb- final languages in terms of typological parameters. But since this language has more than half of the 24 parameters of the verb- medial languages, this language class is expected to be change from a verb- final to a verb- medial language in the near future.
