Abstract

Word order typology is one of the most interesting areas in typological studies worldwide.
This paper first presents Hawkins' views on word order typology, and then tries to determine whether Hawkins's principles can be matched with the word order in Persian (Old Persian, Middle Persian and/or Modern Persian). The results show us that some of his principles can't be applied to word order in Persian (whether Old, Middle or Modern Persian).
