The book, in its second edition (Stibbe, 2021), is organised in eleven chapters and, together with the appendix of the sources of data and the glossary of technical terms at the end of the book, contains a total of 260 pages. The present article will first give a brief overview of the background of the term “ecolinguistics”, and the advent of this field and the scope of its studies; that is because, as is often the case with many scientific disciplines, this cover term and its other related terms have been used in various senses since the emergence of the field. The content of the book in its second edition will then be looked at in detail. کتاب <em>زبان‌شناسی زیست‌محیطی: زبان، محیط زیست، و داستان‌هایی که با آن‌ها زندگی می‌کنیم</em>، نوشتۀ آرن استیبی، زبان‌شناس و بوم‌شناس بریتانیایی، ویراست دوم کتابی است که نخستین بار در سال 2015 توسط انتشارات راتلج به چاپ رسید و از برجسته‌ترین آثاری محسوب می‌شد که به طور متمرکز به این حوزۀ میان‌رشته‌ای نسبتاً نوظهور از زبان‌شناسی کاربردی پرداخته بود. ویراست دوم کتاب (استیبی، 2021) در قالب یازده فصل تنظیم شده است که به همراه پیوست منابع داده‌ها و واژه‌نامۀ اصطلاحات تخصصی انتهای کتاب مجموعاً شامل 260 صفحه می‌شود. این نوشتار ابتدا مرور کوتاهی خواهد داشت بر پیشینۀ اصطلاح «زبان‌شناسی زیست‌محیطی»، و مسیر شکل‌گیری این شاخۀ میان‌رشته‌ای جدید و گسترۀ مطالعات آن؛ چرا که، همانطور که اغلب در مورد بسیاری از شاخه‌های علمی اتفاق می‌افتد، این اصطلاح پوششی و سایر اصطلاحات مرتبط با آن از آغاز شکل‌گیری این حوزه به معانی مختلفی کاربرد داشته‌اند. سپس در ادامه، به بررسی محتوای کتاب در ویراست دوم آن پرداخته خواهد شد. https://lsi-linguistics.ihcs.ac.ir/article_9346_1354b84eca447ab194edadb895706bb0.pdf
