The former is considered to be of the Persian origin while the latter of the Arabic. By studying these words from the historical linguistic aspect and quoting evidence from the accessible texts in Old and the Middle Iranian (including texts from the holy book of Avesta, Manichaean Middle Persian, and Sogdian texts) , as well as instances in the New Persian, from early stages of the forming of the Persian language, and earliest translation of the holy Qoran) the author first proves that the words are both originally Persian, and then suggests that Mādde(h) (=matter, substance, essence; producer), as an equivalent of the philosophical Greek term: “Hyle”, has been borrowed and Arabicized, presumably by the translators of the Middle Persian philosophical texts, during the translation movement started from mid-eight Century CE. This movement, as a result of the need for exploiting the priceless cultural spoils of the subjugated countries, motivated the Arab caliphs to support it, and many books were translated mainly from the Hellenistic scholars into Arabic. Subsequently these Arabic translations were studied by Persian scholars and writers, and rendered into Persian. Thus, the Arabicized: "مادّۃ" and its plural form "مواد", had a return to the Persian with different semantic nuances and enriched the corpus of Persian language and literature.}, keywords = {Philology,Arabicized word,ancient Iranian religious texts,Interpretation}, title_fa = {بررسی واژه‏‌شناختی دو واژۀ «ماده» و «مادّه» از فارسی عامیانه تا اوستایی}, abstract_fa = {مقالۀ حاضر با رویکردی واژه‌شناختی به بررسی واژه‌های «ماده» و «مادّه» می‌پردازد که از دیدگاه ساختواژی[1] تقریباً همانند، اما ازنظر معنایی، و در عرصۀ واژگانی[2] کاملاً متفاوت‌اند: « ماده دربرابرِ نر» و «مادّه، به‌معنیِ اصل هرچیز، مایه؛ در فلسفه: ماده دربرابرِ صورت». نخستین را همه واژه‌ای با اصل فارسی می‌دانند، و دومین را عربی می‌پندارند. با بررسی دقیقِ این دو واژه از دیدگاه زبان‌شناسی تاریخی، و با ارائۀ نمونه‌هایی قانع‌کننده از متون موجودِ زبان‌های ایرانیِ کهن و ایرانیِ میانه، و نیز فارسی، نگارنده ابتدا به اثبات می‌رساند که هردو واژه از ریشۀ ایرانیِ آغازین‌اند، و سپس حدس نزدیک به یقینِ خود را درموردِ معرّب‌شدنِ «ماده= «مادّۃ» با خوانندگان در میان می‌گذارد که: گزارندگان متون فلسفیِ یونانی به زبان عربی، نخست در برخورد با اصطلاح یونانیِ“hyle”، آن را به‌صورتِ «هیولی» بر‌گردانده، سپس با استفاده از ترجمه‌های عربی از متونِ پارسیِ میانه، واژۀ m’tk’[mādag] (=ماده، مایه، اصل) را که در فارسی نو (زبان گفتاریِ معاصرشان) به‌صورتِ «مادَه» (با های غیرملفوظ) تلفظ می‌شده است، با افزودن تشدید، جامۀ عربی پوشانده و حتی معرب نیز نشمرده‌اند؛ بی آنکه غیرقرآنی[3] بودن (افنان، 1964: 15) و نبود پیشینه‌ای از آن در زبان عربیِ پیش از اسلام را درنظر گیرند. این واژۀ معرّب با ظرایفِ معناشناختیِ متفاوت، و با جمع عربیِ «مواد» به زبان فارسی بازگشته و به غنای پیکرۀ زبان و ادبیات فارسی افزوده است.   [1]. morphological [2]. lexical [3]. non-Qur’anic}, keywords_fa = {واژه‌‏شناسی,تفسیر متن,متون کهن ایرانی و فارسی نو,تعریب}, url = {https://lsi-linguistics.ihcs.ac.ir/article_7924.html}, eprint = {https://lsi-linguistics.ihcs.ac.ir/article_7924_a4b8cecb1e2ac8e102ea80a89344b2fa.pdf} }
